I have never taught a class before, I am stiff as a board and I don't have the same body type as the people on the DVD! Could I still take the training?
Yes, Essentrics is for everybody. We encourage and welcome people of all fitness levels and experience, regardless of age and ability. You will notice a huge change in your own flexibility and body-shape as you go through the training program. Teaching your first pre-choreographed workout, your own body will become more flexible, fluid and balanced and you will start to look more like the people on the DVD’s. Everyone benefits from this program, even our teachers!
This looks somewhat like dance; do I need to have a background in dance?
Not at all! Some of our best teachers do not have any dance training and have excelled in teaching Essentrics. Backgrounds of our current teachers include: no fitness training, massage therapist, athletic therapist, yoga/pilates/fitness instructors, former dancers, school teachers, financial specialists, former athletes and many more.
What if I have an injury, am pregnant, or have any special conditions?
Provided that your doctor has cleared you to participate, you can still do the training with a few modifications that we will show you. Your special condition will make you a more empathetic instructor.
Can I become fully certified by distance education?
Yes! Most people take only the distance learning certification program and never attend a live teacher training. Our distance program offers extensive support tools and an interactive group webpage to help you succeed and become a confident and knowledgeable instructor. Most people are fully certified from a distance however we highly recommend attending a live teacher training, as it will help improve your skills as a teacher.
What are the benefits of attending live teacher training?
The hands-on experience is invaluable. Live teacher trainings offer personalized corrections and instruction that cannot be replicated in a distance-training program. The experience you gain within a group, allows you to learn from your fellow peers. You will work with various body types and will learn how to modify and adjust the exercises according to student’s needs. There is no substitute for the knowledge that you will attain about yourself and others in a live workshop.
Is there a time limit to complete the certification?
While there is no time limit, we do provide a guideline for completion of each level. We recommend that you follow the time management guide that we provide to ensure that you complete the levels in a timely manner. Level 1 should take approximately 12 weeks, and Level 2 to 4 should take 6 weeks each. Each level, from 1 to 4, will require that you submit a written as well as practical exam, and between 18-30 hours of apprentice work. We provide you with time management tools to stay on top of the learning process, but you may go at your own pace! In the time management plan it is suggested that you put aside about 1 ½ hrs a day five days a week. That should be sufficient to complete the program.
Can I teach before I complete Level 4?
Yes, absolutely! You may begin teaching as a Certified Level 1 Instructor. You will be qualified to teach the Pre-Choreographed Workout 1 as your first routine. As a Level 1 Instructor you should change routines every 8 to 12 weeks in order to give variety to your students. Students get bored with the same music and routine if it goes on for more than 12 weeks! You are obliged to teach Pre-Cho Workouts until you pass level 4, where you learn how to put your own workout together.
Are payment plans available?
Please contact firstname.lastname@example.org to help create a payment plan that suits your individual needs. Though course fees are usually due in full two weeks before the start of a training course, we are always willing discuss options to help you get started!
Do I need any prior certification to become an Essentrics Instructor?
No, you do not need any prior certification. We suggest that instructors take anatomy and physiology courses as that will help them excel as instructors. However, it is not necessary.
Are there any age requirements to teach Essentrics?
We would like instructors to be of legal age, as you will need to be insured by your local fitness insurance company. Every country has different insurance rules. You must abide by your local laws and they will most likely include age limits.
What happens if I do not pass my exam?
In the case that you do not receive the minimum passing grade of 80% you will be able to resubmit your exam (the written or practical portion). You will be assigned an exam corrector who will provide you with the additional support needed to help you succeed. You will be eligible to resubmit your exam after a period of 30 days. A re-evaluation fee of $60 will apply.
