Don’t get flustered over pairing the exercise length exactly with your music. Changing songs to spice up your current workout while you are learning a new one is an amazing way to give your students something new! We understand that songs vary in length and this requires that you make some modifications to your existing choreography. Relax; it’s ok to alter the reps so that the workout flows to your new song length just make sure that you still stick to the choreography, show all the right techniques and do all the exercise variations; this will ensure that you keep your workout balanced! |
Gail Garceau said it best, “We need to remember that as fitness instructors we are not legally entitled to give diagnosis nor are we prepared to. We may simply make observations, or notice patterns about the way somebody moves and figure out a way for them to do a movement safer or more effectively if they are in our class. If I were to approach any potential client (although I don’t usually make an approach like that- it’s usually an open discussion) I would simply say that “I teach Essentrics, a stretch program, that actively stretches and rebalances every muscle whether we are doing a 20, 30 or 60 minute workout. It’s great to help you recruit more muscles, and prevent injuries.” The best we can do is hopefully inspire people to make a regular practice of integrating daily full body rebalancing workouts into their lives.”
Amanda’s features a 35-minute standing and barre workout, focusing on lengthening and reshaping your waist and arms!
Meg’s features a 35-minute cardio standing and floor work out geared for the intermediate level and designed to get your heart rate up.
Miranda’s workout is 23 minutes, geared to beginners and is designed to strengthen legs, hips and knees.
Serafina Pekkala shared that a friend who comes to her classes said that his 6 year-old niece asked him, “Uncle B, what’s this exercise I hear you are doing, pulling weeds and reaching for the sun, and then the weeds just disappear?” He looked at her stunned and realized one of his niece’s classmates had been to class with her mom the week before. Don’t you just love that 6-year olds are talking about Essentrics too?
