We had a wonderful time filming our 10th anniversary season in Jamaica! The weather was absolutely gorgeous––each morning the weather co-operated with us, allowing us finish this shoot a couple days early for the very first time! We would like to thank mysilversands.com for letting us film at several of their beautiful villas and beaches! If you’re ever in Jamaica, mysilversands.com is a great place to stay…after all it’s one of our favorite places to go on vacation!
During the filming of season 10 we were put in a charming 8 bedroom villa aptly named villa Endless Summer. This Villa can sleep 20 people making it perfect for planning events with friends and family. After years of film shoots where we are all separated in our individual hotels rooms we finally had the chance to live together like a happy family! After each film shoot we would all meet to plan the next days shoot in the production office which was beautiful in- ground swimming pool overlook the ocean! The best kept secret of the villa was Miranda’s bedroom until the word got…Then many meeting meeting were moved to her bedroom. This bedroom had a panoramic view overlooking the ocean for miles, with a bed that made a king size bed look small. We are also so lucky to have a wonderful staff who kept us organized and well fed!
Our first morning of filming, we got a chance to tease the film crew because they forgot to switch their clocks to Jamaica time. That left all the more banana bread for the rest of us! Once all was settled, we set up at Silver Sands majestic Jetty and filmed some exciting new workouts. After a long day of shooting we were starving; delighted to arrive back at the villa with the yummy smell of Jerk Chicken coming out of the kitchen. Filming is tough!
The Rum Jetty villa is located on a beautiful private beach overlooking a long wharf ending with a British styled gazebo and, of course, the Caribbean Sea! Every angle we looked at was ridiculously photogenic. Our problem was choosing which pretty background to use. We filmed as much as time would allow in this lovely location. The front gardens offered another feast for the eyes, full of well cared for shrubs, flowers and trees. We’re planning to stay in this gorgeous villa during one of the retreats. Live shoots always have their funny moments as sand crabs tried to steal the spotlight during the shoot. You might see some crabs enjoying the sun in some of the sand locations routines!
Today we had the pleasure of filming at Queens Cottage. In the 1960’s Queen Elizabeth visited the island of Jamaica and stayed in this cottage; it is no wonder why! The view from the back deck is beyond beautiful! As we watched the sunrise over the beach, we could imagine the newly married Queen enjoying the same scenic view with her handsome husband!
The layout of Orchid House, the Villa for our day 4 shoot was different from all the others. The house was built around an interior courtyard with a large private pool, waterfall and private gardens. It was magical. Filming was more difficult because the walls of the courtyard created many shadows. Again we were planning future vacations at Orchid House. After Orchid House we went back to the beach for some sun set shoots.
One of our favorite locations at mysilversands.com! This oceanfront villa is stunning inside and out. This location made it easy to film a lot of shows today. We shot a few beside the private pool, in the Gazebo and in front of the ocean (more sand critters to contend with). When the weather and the location all come together we can get a lot of shows in the can in a short space of time. Red Fox is our dream Villa for a family vacation or a big party with friends. We spent dinner trying to organize a vacation so we could stay at Red Fox. It soon became clear that every villa is special.
Santa Margarita, is situated on a cliff boasting a breathtaking view of the Caribbean Sea. Filming here was again easy and a delight! Sahra, Miranda and Melissa had stayed here a few years ago so they were on chummy terms with the cook and housekeeper. Before you knew it––lemonade, fruit dishes and cakes appeared which made everyone happy but Miranda. She doesn’t eat until after a shoot.
Silver Sands is a small-gated community of private villas that start at the top of a gentle hill and finish at the ocean. On day 7, we filmed at the top of the hill at this breath taking villa called Rockhill. This location gave us a panoramic backdrop with a breathtaking view. The landscaping at this villa was exquisite the ocean, the pool and the picturesque gazebo were all stunning. The shooters did their best to avoid electricity lines that interfered with the view. No location is perfect however. There is always a challenge like electric lines, or barking dogs or construction crews drilling nearby! But the view from the top of the hill was worth the effort; there is nothing as majestic as seeing a turquoise ocean as far as the eye can see. It reminded the entire crew of how lucky we all were to be filming at the beautiful My Silversands!!
