An Essentrics workout is one of the most accessible and intelligent ways that we can bring balance into our bodies. As soon as we start doing regular workouts, we begin to learn so much about the way our body is meant to move, and that movement is designed to make us feel good! When we start to feel good in our physical body, it immediately propels us to expand our path to wellness. Wellness is an act of practicing good and healthy habits that allow us to attain positive results for our well-being. The time–tested wisdom of Ayurveda in conjunction with a daily Essentrics practice can provide us with an additional framework for bringing more balance and ease into our daily routine.

What is Ayurveda?

Ayurveda is a tried and tested ancient healing system that can provide a path for health and caring for oneself year-round, and during all stages of life. The principles and wisdom within Ayurveda hold the key to understanding how to care for our complex organism and live a more joyous life. In Ayurveda, nature is our teacher, and we use the wisdom of the 5 elements: earth, water, fire, air, and space as the basis for bringing balance to our bodies and mind.

Ultimately, Ayurveda is a collaborative approach to wellness and towards understanding ourselves better so that we can make the best choices for ourselves daily, and it places specific importance on how to best keep ourselves healthy during seasonal shifts. Anytime we experience changes in our lives, our body and mind must also adjust. Life is a constant ebb and flow of change and Ayurveda helps to guide us towards finding a flow towards balance and away from disease.

Finding Balance this Fall

As we transition into fall, the temperature begins to shift, the leaves start to dry out and change colours, the wind makes the air more mobile, and we gradually lose sunlight and warmth as our days become shorter. Our schedules feel busier than ever, and we see our daily routines shift with the start of school, work and the many new projects that come after we wrap up the bloom of summer. These changes are all expected and, welcomed or not, they are fixtures in the season ahead.

According to Ayurveda, fall has a predominance of the air element making it dry, rough, windy, cool, and – much like our schedules and minds – a touch erratic. This air element increases the likelihood of imbalances, leading to heightened anxiety, fear, worry, uneasiness and ungrounded feelings, decreased energy, and even a lower immune system (i.e., seasonal colds). We may find ourselves physically and mentally depleted when we don’t understand how to respect the natural shift in nature and how to bring awareness to these changes within ourselves. This wellness program will combine both workshops and classes – all aimed at keeping you balanced, relaxed and nourished this fall season!

Essentrics & Ayurveda together

During this wellness program, Essentrics classes are more mindfully centered on our movements to reflect the seasonal shifts. Cultivating a daily routine that includes a movement practice helps to not only energize us, but also nourishes our joints and tissues and brings ease into our minds – something we can all appreciate this season! These workouts will be taking on a very mindful approach so that we can spend the greater part of this program getting out of the cycle of our thoughts and spend more time getting into our bodies. Thus, we deepen our connection to ourselves and soothe our nervous system in the process.

Fall is the perfect time to relax, and re-center taking a few moments for yourself each day. Remember:“Every season is one of becoming, but not always one of blooming. Be gracious with your ever-evolving self.”
